So I thought I'd take a step back onto RockmanPM to make a post to expose Mega Man Eternal to those who have not encountered it yet, and almost all the threads were all complaining about "fan game" posters advertising their projects.  I felt very discouraged to even go there as the last time I went on there I was immediately insulted by somebody who clearly needed to get a life that I didn't even know.

I had my 2 cents for these individuals, but hopefully some on RockmanPM will be able to learn more about this project and get on the wagon for the release.  Last time I checked a forum is a place where people can discuss topics and present new topics.  Clearly MME had not been discussed there at all (I searched it) so I wanted to get some people who had not left the RockmanPM bubble to notice a longstanding project that they may not have seen before.  On a thread about a fan game which should be discussing the game it was almost 95% comprised of people complaining about fan game makers posting in the fan game section their fan game (you know there is such a thing as Logical statements, and you tell me if that didn't seem sensible lol).  It was an obvious case of jealousy by some, while others defended the post (which I commend) but such shouldn't be happening on a forum.  That's the job of a moderator.  As somebody who has run numerous forums in the past, I found the way posters who had been there for a while reacted to be very condescending and quite rude to new visitors to that forum.  Also, I found it quite illogical to be focusing on bantering about a fan game post in the fan game section instead of discussing the game which one actually did, while the others just either trolled it or complained about something irrelevant.

You may see why I think RockmanPM is ridiculous, and why I normally don't traverse forums and stick to my blog, journals (here), or making YouTube videos.  That was easily the most embarrassing experience on the part of a forum I have ever seen.

If you want to take a look at the ridiculousness (forum.rockmanpm.com/index.php?… ), and my response to these people where I effectively "put them in their place".

Have a beautiful day!

On a better note:  I finished writing my lectures for my teaching Saturday evening, I think it is on the order of about 200 pages of notes.  So if anybody would like me to make videos on analysis of algorithms (topics in this), I would be more than happy to do so.

Daniel

You're avoiding forums and sticking to personal blogs? Who's in a bubble?

This is coming from a DA with less than 100 views.  I am pretty sure that my DA profile, my YouTube channel, and blogger get more traffic and more public attention than that.  Who's in a bubble?  Somebody stuck in the past maybe like you by looking through old journals?  Seeing as you are reading a journal entry from quite a while back.  Maybe instead you can get out of the bubble and maybe ask about something more meaningful.  I have administered forums a long time ago for quite a few sites, so I can vouch that the experience I had there at RockmanPM was ridiculous.  I need not mention more on my part.

With that out of the way, would you like to discuss anything more important?  Blogs?  The Internet?  Computing?  Mega Man? Wrestling? ... Mathematics? (some reasonable examples)  I mean, you are talking to a guy who works really hard at trying to benefit the lives of others through research and helping people, and I am more than happy to share any bit of information I know.  If not, I suggest taking your approach somewhere else.

I can tell you this Daniel. I was once a commoner that visited until I just fucking gave up after realizing that that forum has a "high school"-esque system.

I just regret joining that forum, however there are some amazing members I have come to respect. Mainly Zan, Nebula*Black, Borockman, and a few names I can't remember well.

I never bothered to check out the forums there. And from what I've seen, looks like it'll keep that way.
I even understand where they're coming from, but that's no excuse to simply brush off any fan project as a half assed 8 bit cookie cutter game at first glance. Some people don't seem to believe that fan projects and genuine effort can walk hand in hand. I'm glad that at least someone was sensible enough to see that and apologize. Props to him.
Well, in any case, better luck with your future advertising endeavors. And with the game itself! :D

Yes. I haven't had issues in the past as I have had the project featured on ScrewAttack and of course I have YouTube and blogs to use at my disposal.  My girlfriend runs my facebook page (as I left facebook about 6 months ago) and she will often post updates I have from YouTube.

LOL, I have hosted many forums and that one is just strange.  I usually go about it otherwise, but since it was a site dedicated apparently to Mega Man, it would only make sense to try.  YouTube is my common grounds, at least there they make it somewhat hilarious when you have thick skin.

I would just think that it would be okay to post about the game in a Fan Game section of a Mega Man forum that has other topics that are other fan games like mine. o.O
